The Chevrolet Colorado is a mid-size pickup truck
that has been in its second generation since 2012. It’s the perfect choice if you need a general-purpose truck with the fuel economy and maneuverability of a car. The Colorado is highly versatile, allowing you to do everything from hauling and towing to running carpools. It’s even available in an off-road version. Unlike a full-size truck, the Colorado can be easily stored in a garage and the diesel engine provides remarkably good fuel economy. Off-roaders will want to consider the ZR2 version of the 2018 Colorado.
The 2018 Colorado offers a simple cabin layout that provides long-distance comfort for two or five passengers, depending on configuration. The range of available options includes several engine choices and trim levels that will suit your travel needs for trips to San Antonio or Austin. One of the most popular configurations is the LT trim with the crew cab and standard bed, a 3.6-liter engine and four-wheel drive.
Two-wheel drive (2WD) is the standard driving mode for the 2018 Colorado, with four-wheel-drive (4WD) and a low-speed transfer case available as an option. You also have a choice of body styles, including an extended or crew cab. The crew cab is available with a standard (5.2 ft.) or long (6.2 ft.) bed. The extended cab is only available with the long bed. Additional options for the 2018 Colorado include cross rails for a cargo-box storage system, locking rear differential, spray-on bedliner and fog lights.

What's New for 2018
Chevrolet is celebrating its 100th year with an Anniversary Edition of the 2018 Colorado. The exterior colors of this version are exclusive to this version and include Centennial Blue, Kinetic Blue, and Satin Steel Gray Metallic. The grille and rear bumper of the Anniversary Edition match the exterior color. This version also has 18-inch wheels and chrome accents on the door handles and outside mirrors. Heritage graphics and a spray-in bedliner with a “100th” logo complete the look for this version.
New exterior features for all versions of the 2018 Colorado include heated mirrors and an Active Tow system that allows you to align the truck when reversing to hook up a trailer. Active tow is a standard feature on models with diesel or six-cylinder gasoline engines, but it isn’t available for the four-cylinder gasoline engine. The interior changes for this year include options for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration and an upgrade to an eight-inch infotainment screen. Apple CarPlay allows the radio to act as a display and controller for all iPhone5s and later with at least iOS 7.1.
Kelly Blue Book reports that the Chevrolet Colorado and its counterpart, the GMC Canyon are the only mid-size trucks with a diesel engine. The 2.8-liter Duramax engine delivers excellent power with enough low-end rumble to remind you that you have a diesel engine. It combines a first-rate driving experience with excellent fuel economy. The Smart diesel exhaust brake on the Colorado also improves control while reducing brake wear.
The V-6 gasoline engine with its 8-speed automatic transmission is equally satisfying, with its smooth, refined acceleration. The 2018 Colorado is easily maneuverable through city streets and parking lots, and the ZR2 allows you to run on unpaved back roads with rocks and rough surfaces.
